Photo Honors At Shooting The West XXIII

23rd March 2011
The slide show above this headline depicts a series of my photos and graphic art pieces that figured in a very successful late winter show season for us. Both my entries into the "Give It your Best Shot" competition at Winnemucca's 23rd "Shooting The West" Photo Symposium were selected for speaker honors. The Coyote was selected by Carson Valley photographer Mike Jarrett for his "Merit Choice" -- a second place honor. "Grace", the little flower girl in the red Christmas dress, was selected by my longtime friend Bob Goodman for his "Speaker's Choice" -- a first place honor -- unbeknownst to him that it was my entry. The autumn tree reflection "Eno River Reflection Number One" sold for $115 at the Churchill Arts Council Evening With The Arts silent auction, and the graphic art image "On The Balcony -- French Quarter" sold at the same event for $55. The graphic art image of "Isabella" dancing came from Robin (Powell) Wilson's wedding and "Red Fox" was a jittery shot from my Denali trip salvaged by the application of a Photoshop "watercolor" filter that makes it favor a Liljefors, if I may be allowed to humbly suggest. A new camera and refreshing artistic directions promise a year ahead rich in experience and productive growth. - L
