Alaska 2009

At the invitation of my good friend Don Paul from Utah, who had ferried his SUV from Seattle to Haines, I flew to Fairbanks August 16 where Don picked me up and we spent the next five days at Wonder Lake Campground in Denali National Park. We set up camp in the rain and waited for two days for skies to clear. Thursday and Friday we had breathtaking, clear views of Denali (Mt. McKinley to some). Sunday we had a great bus ride out in the mist with moose, bears, and a red fox all packed right along side the road. We capped off our wildlife adventure with an afternoon of sandhill cranes at Creamer's Dairy Fields behind Alaska Fish and Game's Fairbanks office before I had to board an airliner for home Tuesday the 25th.
